AFPM is the premier trade association for the refining and petrochemical industry, representing more than 90 percent of our nation's fuel and petrochemical manufacturers. The Association is headquartered in Washington, D.C.
We are looking for a qualified Industry Analyst with working knowledge and understanding of energy and/or petrochemical markets and industries and sources of statistical data and information about those industries, e.g. U.S. Energy Information, International Energy Agency, OPEC, KAPSARC, JODI, Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Customs, EPA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Studies global and US energy and petrochemical markets, identifying and focusing on emerging issues and trends, supply/demand balances and economic data
Compiles data and conducts analysis relating to research areas such as global crude oil balances, outlook for refined product demand, renewable fuels, electric vehicles, and the impact of regulations such as the Renewable Fuel Standard, Corporate Average Fuel Economy, and National Environmental Policy Act on the refining and petrochemical manufacturing industries.
Shares and publishes analysis as appropriate to inform internal AFPM audience and works with Communications to develop externally focused blog posts and other commentary.
Reviews and analyzes operational and economic data and information, devising methods and procedures for analyzing, presenting, and organizing data to make it accessible to other AFPM staff.
Understands business implications of decisions; demonstrates knowledge of market and competition; aligns work with organizational strategic goals.
Excellent quantitative analytical ability and well-developed understanding of statistical concepts and methods.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree and 4-6 years of related experience required
Preferred Education and Experience
Master’s degree preferred
