FPI is hiring a full-time Director of Government Relations to lead the association’s legislative and regulatory activities. Responsibilities will include:
Monitor legislative and regulatory issues
Work with members and staff to develop positions on key issues
Provide written/oral testimony
Engage proactively with legislators and regulators
Coordinate with allied associations and organizations
Represent FPI in coalition meetings
Inform members of legislative and regulatory updates
Field member questions related to legislation and regulation impacting the industry
The position reports to the president.
A successful candidate will have…
A Bachelor's degree or higher
Experience lobbying at the state and/or local level
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Flexibility to travel
Experience working with a member organization (such as a trade association) and an understanding of issues related to packaging are valued, but not required.
In addition, the candidate will be detail-oriented and efficient, show initiative and have strong interpersonal skills. He or she will enjoy working in a collaborative – and fun! – environment. Local candidates are preferred, as relocation expenses will not be reimbursed.
