The American Library Association’s Office of ALA Governance is seeking a part-time (20 hours a week) Governance Associate to serve our group of association member-leaders.
Reporting to the Director, Governance Office, the Governance Associate will support the Director, Governance specifically and Executive Office generally in the performance of a variety of tasks related to ALA’s member leadership.
Coordinate Committee Appointment process
On-site assistance at the two ALA conferences (Annual and Midwinter)
Executive Board expense reports
Miscellaneous administrative tasks
Individual must be available to travel to week-long ALA Midwinter Meeting (January) and Annual Conference (June). Must be willing to work long hours during these conferences to ensure that meetings run smoothly and efficiently.
SALARY: Negotiable from $23 per hour, based on relevant experience. ALA has an excellent benefit package that includes medical, dental, generous paid vacation and retirement annuity.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; minimum 3 years of experience in an office environment; Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; ability to learn software applications for daily use. Excellent writing and oral communication skills; detail oriented and a team player. Association Board support experience a plus.
