The WJ Weiser government affairs division has an immediate opportunity for an individual to assist in supporting strategic initiatives on government affairs activities involving legislative and regulatory advocacy. Position Includes promoting grassroots advocacy; assisting in implementation of strategy and communication plans; coordinating outreach activities; and educating patients, physicians, and legislators on legislative priorities.
Assist government affairs division in implementing federal and state legislative and regulatory activity.
Collaborate with Director of Government Affairs to research and support client’s legislative policy agenda.
Track, report, and occasionally analyze various legislative and regulatory actions at the state and federal level.
Respond to specific requests from members and staff with government affairs issues.
Support website updates for assigned issues, ensuring current content and advocacy campaign resource information is available to clients.
Support social media for timely news and issue-related updates.
Assist government affairs staff as requested.
Assist in supporting client meetings, including but not limited to, speaker recruitment, attendee contacts, and event notices and dissemination.
Travel up to 20%
BA/BS required JD/MPP/MPH preferred with a background in political science or communications.
1-2 years legislative and/or government relations experience, preferably in health care, state or federal legislative office, or with associations.
Working knowledge of state and federal legislative/regulatory process.
Strong oral and written presentation/communication skills.
Web and social media experience helpful.
Computer literacy required.
