The National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA), a 501(c)(3) corporation in Arlington, Virginia, is seeking an experienced Chief Administrative Officer. NCEA provides professional development, leadership and advocacy to 6,300 Catholic school communities in the United States. Founded in 1904, NCEA is the largest, private professional education association in the world serving over 150,000 Catholic school educators who in turn serve over 1.8 million students, K-12. The Association engages approximately 30 full time staff and has an annual budget of $7,000,000.
The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) will manage the association’s finance, budgeting, IT, HR, facilities, procurement, risk, and legal. The CAO reports to the President/CEO, and is part of a four person senior leadership team including CEO, Chief Leadership and Program Officer, and Chief Advancement and Business Development Officer. Broad responsibilities include:
Oversight of Finance Office and Controller, with focus on ensuring sound internal controls, including effective budget processes and appropriate financial reporting and monitoring
In coordination with the Chief Executive Officer and executive team, play a key role in the overall administration and strategic direction/planning of the organization. Collaboration with the Chief Leadership and Program Officer and Chief Advancement and Business Development Officer on the financial impact and needs of NCEA’s various programs
Operational and long term budgeting to include funding and operational options
Review and oversight of accounting and procurement, including existing and new contracts/purchases
Oversee HR processes and systems
Liaison to outside legal counsel
Oversight of facility lease and other contracts, including review of new contracts.

Candidate Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum BS/BA degree with at least 10 years of experience and 5 years of administrative management at the executive level
Specific experience with strategic financial planning, internal controls, and operational oversight
Deep experience in administration, including management of staff
Ability to point to specific experience in implementing change as part of a multiyear strategic planning process
Past experience managing human resources including personnel, compensation, insurance, etc.
Familiarity with the Catholic Church preferred, along with commitment to faith and education values.
