The Director, Human Resources Operations and Workforce Development is responsible for providing management and leadership regarding strategic direction and day-to-day operational activities. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, this role seeks to develop a highly engaged staff that is challenged and aligned with the organization’s vision, mission, and values. The successful incumbent will be a sole contributor with administrative support, providing full life-cycle HR support including talent acquisition, compensation and benefits administration, performance management administration, management of the organization’s policies and procedures, and will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
The Director, HR Operations and Workforce Development is a critical role that will drive the strategic human capital initiatives in the areas of change management, cultural alignment, employee engagement, employee relations, diversity and inclusion, high-potential employee management, leadership and staff development, performance management, organizational design, workforce planning, compensation management, and talent analytics. This is a senior level human resources position that will serve as a trusted confidant to leadership.
This position is very hands-on and requires someone who is self-motivated and works well in a team environment. S/he must be able to interact with and influence management and contributors at all levels of the organization. An HCRI SPHR or PHR certification is strongly preferred to be successful in this role.
Major Responsibilities include:
Coordinate all recruiting activities including updating job descriptions, posting position openings, collecting and inputting resumes in tracking system, participating in interviews, and conducting reference checks.
Assist with new employee on-boarding, quality check new hire paperwork, and process paperwork with payroll.
Maintain employee records in compliance with employment laws.
Administer health and welfare benefits; lead plan selection process with brokers, update employee/employment changes in systems, assist with open enrollment, and assist with inquiries regarding eligibility.
Administer short and long-term disability claims as well as injury claims.
Oversee unemployment insurance claims for all states.
Maintain the HRIS system and generate ad hoc reports for senior leadership.
Assist senior management with special HR projects including research, surveys, and administrative tasks.
Assist staff and managers with resolution of personnel issues or complaints.
Develop Standard Operating Procedures for HR administration.
Assist senior leadership in determining salary and benefits budgets.
Qualified candidates will offer eight or more years of experience in human resources management. The organization is seeking individuals with certification in Human Resources or a related discipline; HRCI PHR or SPHR is strongly preferred. Ideal candidates will have exposure to contemporary human resources best practices, familiarity with HR management systems applications (such as ADP), excellent organization and project management skills, change management expertise, and will be skilled in relationship-building.
