This is a professional position in the AIA Brand & Creative department reporting to the Senior Director, Brand & Creative. The Art Director will work closely with the Senior Creative Director to establish AIA's marketing team as a fast forward practice that is as innovative, creative, and accountable as the members it represents.
In addition, the Art Director is responsible for the visual style of marketing projects and provides direction to internal and external graphic designers to establish the conceptual and stylistic direction for marketing and media campaigns. The manager will also work closely with other design staff including; production artists, photographers, illustrators, prepress technicians, printers and work to maintain a cohesive & recognizable brand.
Establish the stylistic and conceptual direction for marketing and branding campaigns that align with AIA's brand and graphic identity.
Create outstanding design for integrated campaigns: print, social media, events, online advertising digital marketing, branding collateral, and video.
Lead the creative process and provide direction to graphic designers to formulate basic layout design approach and specify details, such as style and size of type, photographs and graphics for a wide variety of projects.
Art direct AIA's section of ARCHITECT Magazine.
Support brand consistency through all print and digital marketing efforts with a focus on positioning AIA as a modern, relevant, and bold leader.
Work collaboratively with design and account teams to discuss client requirements, objectives, budget and other background information that will produce creative solutions for branded assets that meet the client's needs.
Present comp layouts to clients when necessary.
Prepare files for printing/publishing/manufacturing.
Coordinate with vendors and contribute oversight to production process.
Review and approve print proofs.
Attend photo shoots and printing sessions to ensure that the products needed are obtained.

Bachelor's degree in marketing or communications with a minimum of 7 years of related marketing management experience required. Agency experience is desirable.
