We are seeking a motivated, organized, and energetic person for he Assistant Editor position. This position is responsible for writing, copyediting, and proofreading for APhA periodicals and websites, as well as for other departments within APhA through the editorial services process, and to handle administrative management of the JAPhA electronic manuscript submission system.
The Primary Responsibilities Are:
Writes stories for Pharmacy Today and pharmacist.com
Reports and writes Pharmacy Today articles as assigned
Assists with writing, editing, and posting of articles for pharmacist.com as assigned.
Provides editing and proofreading for Pharmacy Today, JAPhA, and Student Pharmacist
Provides copyediting and proofreading for Pharmacy Today and Student Pharmacist.
Proofs revised pages and front matter for JAPhA.
Formats articles based on house style and flags and/or provides missing information, such as photo captions and credits, page numbers and folios, headlines, subheads, continuation lines, masthead information, author bylines and biographies, etc., for Pharmacy Today and Student Pharmacist.
Provides input into department style manual
Copyedits, proofreads, and provides editorial assistance to other APhA departments
Provides copyediting and proofreading of reports, marketing materials, advertisements, surveys, etc. for other Association departments as assigned through the DaVinci system
Manages the JAPhA electronic manuscript system:
Checks in articles for review by EiC and Associate Editors.
Processes accepted articles for export to Elsevier
Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, communications, or related area. Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience working for a health association publication.
