Chapter Relations, Customer Service and Support, Membership
The Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) is looking for a motivated, data-driven, customer service-focused, association professional to lead the membership team. The Director of Member Relations and Engagement will work collaboratively across the organization to develop and implement a membership recruitment and retention strategy that builds and communicates member value. In addition, this position leads the membership team in developing programming around diversity, leadership, international outreach, and awards.
Lead development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy to achieve targeted membership recruitment and retention goals.
Monitor and provide analysis of membership-related data and trends.
Ensure provision of timely and superior customer service.
Work collaboratively with marketing and communications team to develop effective messaging and identify appropriate channels to help members understand and increase use of programs and services.
Stay abreast of industry best practices on membership and membership marketing and recommend potential new member services based on research.
Provide content for membership-related communications and website updates, working closely with the marketing team, and ensure website content is up-to-date.
Ensure efficient and effective systems for membership, including data integrity, backend workflow, dues invoicing, systems enhancements, and implementation of new technologies.
Manage and enhance affinity programs that support member needs.
Develop strategy related to diversity of the membership, including Women in Print and Young Leaders.
Maintain partnerships with national association in other countries.
Collaborate with staff on association awards programs.
Generate reports, trends, statistics and analysis on membership.
Develop, monitor and report on annual division goals and budgets, including revenue targets, and conduct regular budget forecasts.
Manage receptionist’s function, ensuring customer service and coverage, via phones, email, and live chat.
Supervise, train, mentor and evaluate performance of department staff.
Coordinate on-site events at annual Expo, including association membership booth.
Serve as an engaged and involved team member, supportive of the varied experiences and perspectives of internal and external colleagues.
Support and actively build an office culture dedicated to superior customer service that exceeds member expectations.
Work within the team and across teams to ensure that decisions are made to further the organization’s goals.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in association management.
Minimum 7-10 years of experience with proven association membership and marketing experience.
Experience with membership database systems (association management systems) a must.
Experience with trade associations strongly preferred.
Demonstrated supervisory skills (minimum five years’ experience supervising staff).
