Incumbent serves as department head and leads programs, processes and initiatives to achieve the corporate membership goals and objectives. Incumbent maintains awareness of overall industry trends and issues, collaborates in the development and implementation of member recruitment and engagement initiatives, oversees membership financial processes, forecasts and manages department budget and resource allocations, manages member service center, and supervises day to day activities of staff.
Direct and support long-range and annual planning for strengthening the association‘s membership value proposition, membership experience and member growth and retention goals.
Partner with the Vice President of Member Engagement to develop and implement member engagement initiatives and new member onboarding programs, ensuring that the MBA value proposition is proactively communicated to members. Work collaboratively with staff members across the organization to identify opportunities to enhance member engagement. Provide guidance and organizational support to the four-person member engagement team.
Develop and execute the annual membership renewal campaign to ensure renewal revenue projections are met. Identify and implement technology enhancements and process improvements to increase efficiency.
Lead the management and tracking of Associate Membership program benefits and engagement, including regular benefits evaluation, creation and launch of new program benefits, and cross-organizational coordination.
Partner with the Vice President of Member Engagement and marketing team to develop and implement innovative recruitment strategies. Provides additional recruitment support to ensure goals are met, including report development, prospect tracking processes, event planning and communication plans.
Provide planning, coordination and oversight of the Member Service Center to ensure current and future customer needs are being met. Coordinate with service center staff to implement appropriate tracking mechanisms. Identify opportunities for innovation and centralized service functions to increase internal efficiencies and improve member and customer experience.
Develop and manage departmental budget, ensuring diligent and effective adherence to fiscal management, resource allocation, forecasting, monitoring and implementation.
Provide effective leadership and direction, including employee engagement and development, to six-person Membership Department.
Manage all aspects of MBA Connect, MBA’s member community web platform, to support and enhance committee and member segment participation. Develop policies and procedures, establish and provide staff training as needed, coordinate marketing communications, serve as primary vendor liaison and provide regular status reports.
Recommend, develop and regularly produce analytic reports detailing key membership performance indicators for use in strategic planning, engagement prioritization and annual budget preparation.
Establish and maintain data integrity protocols and promote data integrity best practices to ensure member records are accurately established and maintained. Serve as liaison to internal IT team for corporate database related processes, enhancements, issues resolutions, etc.
Create and publish content for all membership related web pages.
Serve as member or lead for ad hoc internal strategy or project specific teams as needed.

The ability to travel for MBA related business, up to 15% annually.
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred, with preferred emphasis on business, marketing, communications, government or other job-related discipline. Minimum of ten years of association membership experience required. Demonstrated leadership in building and leading teams, optimizing team talents and growing individuals. Ability to analyze and interpret data to clearly articulate the need for specific strategies. Experience in managing multiple projects and priorities. Flexible and adaptable with proven success in a changing environment. Demonstrated organizational, prioritization, decision-making, analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy of data. Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; strong presentation skills.
Experience with Aptify AMS and MS Office required.
