Education and Training, Project Management/Program Development
The Director, Live Learning Programs and Educational Innovation will employ strategies to continuously evolve the live educational offerings in the continuing professional development (CPD) portfolio for pathologists and laboratory professionals to ensure educational needs are met. The Director will lead the conceptualization, design, and deployment of innovative live learning programs utilizing best practices in instructional design, adult learning, blended learning approaches, and technology. The Director will collaborate with subject matter experts and staff across all departments, including marketing, customer service, IT, and meeting services in order to maximize the impact of ASCP’s live educational programs for physician and non-physician learners, and to optimize ASCP’s success in meeting market needs and financial objectives. The Director will oversee the operations of live learning programs, including serving on the internal annual meeting leadership team to lead the educational direction and initiatives. The Director will lead the management of live domestic/international programs, and staff volunteer committees and workgroups, including the Annual Meeting Education Committee, Pathology Informatics Committee, and the Immuno-Oncology Workgroup. The Director will also be responsible for the development of needs assessments including those associated with medical education grants.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and implement innovative live learning programs from conceptualization through development and practical delivery of customer-centric educational programs.
Facilitate the adoption of adult learning theory and evidence-based practices to ensure the highest educational quality of the live learning programs.
Oversee live learning program operations, evaluate and align processes to maximize efficiency.
Serve on the internal Annual Meeting leadership team and lead the educational direction and initiatives.
Lead the development of educational content for domestic/international live learning programs; form internal workgroups and volunteer committees to oversee existing and develop new live domestic/international live learning programs.
Serve as staff liaison to the Annual Meeting Education Committee, Pathology Informatics Committee, and Immuno-Oncology Workgroup.
Participate in and provide support for the ASCP Commission on Continuing Professional Development.
Supervise and coach a team of direct reports who provide project management for various educational products.
Achieve financial objectives by developing and monitoring department, committee, and product revenue and expense budgets, analyzing variances, initiating corrective actions, and anticipating long-term issues.
Work closely with the marketing, finance, IT, and meeting services departments to ensure that the live learning program strategy reaches and grows the targeted audience(s).
Ensure compliance with applicable Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), Continuing Certification (CC), and Board of Certification (BOC) guidelines for continuing education and certification requirements.
Write high-quality medical education grant proposal narratives and needs assessments.
Work with other members of the grants team to coordinate and compile all pieces of the proposals.
Assume additional duties as assigned that contribute to the organization/division’s strategic goals.
Master’s degree preferred in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or Adult Education.
Minimum of 5 years of applicable experience in adult and continuing education/training (continuing education (CE) preferred), and instructional design.
Expertise in curriculum design, needs assessment, and proven experience across the entire instructional design process.
Expertise in grant writing a plus.
Familiarity with continuing medical education (CME)/CE for healthcare professionals and association experience a plus.
Excellent diction, grammar, and vocabulary both verbal and written with the ability to organize, structure, and communicate information and ideas clearly.
Highly collaborative, influential, and creative, with advanced communication skills and leadership ability to work with national and international teams, including commissions and committees.
Computer proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Experience in partnering with various departments, such as IT, marketing, finance, and meeting services to drive collaborative projects and decisions.
Substantial management experience, dealing with diverse staff, audiences, and needs.
Well-developed negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Self-starter, with ability to handle multiple projects with minimal supervision.
