The Chief Executive Officer (the CEO) is appointed by the Board of Directors (the Grand High Zeta) as the chief executive officer of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity (the Fraternity). He reports to the Board of Directors through the Chairman of the Board (the Grand High Alpha).
proven transformational leadership experience and accomplishment;
the demonstrated ability to drive strategic alignment among important constituencies (undergraduate members, alumni, Board, undergraduate institutions, staff, etc.);
a recognized ability to think beyond today while capitalizing on the rich traditions and values of an established organization;
a distinguished career in for-profit or not-for-profit;
a Fraternity alumnus or willingness (and availability) to be initiated;
demonstrated success as an articulate and engaging spokesperson;
outstanding leadership and management capabilities;
demonstrated experience and success in change management and organizational transformation;
credible experience working with students, alumni, staff, and the academic community;
demonstrated experience in working with volunteers in an international organization;
managed a large, complex, geographically-dispersed organization/enterprise, and understands how to manage people; and
proven success in raising funds for programs, products, and services.
The CEO's duties are assigned by the General Assembly, the Grand High Zeta, or the Laws of the Fraternity. He is an ex-officio member of the Grand High Zeta and attends all Grand High Zeta meetings. Generally, he is responsible for:
moral and ethical leadership of the organization;
leading staff and constituencies in the successful implementation of the mission of the Fraternity;
serving as the chief spokesperson for the Fraternity;
working with volunteers to expand and grow the Fraternity in pursuit of its mission;
helping to coordinate activities between the Fraternity and the Lambda Chi Alpha Educational Foundation (the Foundation) in pursuit of their respective missions;
working with various constituencies, mainly undergraduate members, alumni members, and host institutions;
leveraging inclusion and diversity among members, staff, volunteers, and on alumni boards;
keeping the Fraternity focused on key goals and driving progress; and
demonstrating high standards of conduct as a model for others to follow.
employs other executive and administrative personnel as he may deem advisable for the welfare of the Fraternity, or as may be required by the strategic direction for the Fraternity provided by the Grand High Zeta or the General Assembly;
collaborates with the Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation;
coordinates work with the Fraternity's officers, chapter leaders, volunteers, and staff to carry out the Fraternity’s mission, strategies, and financial objectives;
ensures that Lambda Chi Alpha’s programming meets or exceeds stated objectives and drives member experience, benefits, and value;
works with the Grand High Zeta, chapters, members, and staff to create and design the strategic vision for Fraternity in the 21st century;
builds upon the Fraternity’s strong national image and reputation;
fosters improved relations and a foundation of trust and value with the international office, local chapters, host institutions, and alumni;
participates with Grand High Zeta leadership on board development activities;
ensures the financial stability of the organization and growth of membership;
serves a diverse membership pool at the chapter level and engages a broader number of alumni in the Fraternity’s work; and
builds a strong organizational culture.
