Senior Director Education & Certification - Multiple
We are hiring a Senior Director to serve as the leader of the Education & Certification department within Kellen. In this role, you will provide strategic leadership and management of Kellen’s education, certification and accreditation initiatives on behalf of Kellen’s nonprofit clients. Using your deep expertise in the field of education and certification, you’ll partner with client volunteers to understand their needs and work with your team to create and deliver innovative and outcomes-oriented solutions to support our client’s missions and their strategic objectives. Your skill in crafting and executing a vision for this department will ensure Kellen continues to be a leader in the field of Education & Certification and is well respected among existing and prospective clients.
***This position is preferred to be based in Chicago, IL or Overland Park, KS, but could also work in Atlanta, GA, New York, NY, or Washington, DC locations.
What will you do?
Strategy and Business Development
Create a clear and compelling strategic vision, goals and operating model for the Education & Certification department, and align the department with the plan.
Promote Kellen by exercising thought leadership in this domain, including speaking, presenting, and writing on relevant topics for client networking events, conferences, and/or related association groups.
Cultivate new business opportunities for Kellen by contributing to proposals and presentations to existing and prospective clients.
Consult with association management teams and other shared service department leaders to assess and identify client needs, develop program concepts, and draft quotes based on project scope & resource requirements.
Program Development & Delivery
Lead a team to design, develop, and implement innovative education, certification and accreditation programs.
Continuously monitor internal systems and processes to ensure staff resourcing matches the level of skill and time needed to deliver client projects, while balancing overall client satisfaction and profitability.
Facilitate a multi-departmental process to select preferred Education & Certification vendors for clients, inclusive of defining requirements through solution selection. Once selected, maintain relationships with preferred vendors.
Develop common metrics for Education & Certification products and continuously monitor to ensure the portfolio is meeting client expectations and intended impact.
Partner with Kellen leaders and staff to ensure seamless client experience, including on-boarding of new clients, coordination and management of vendors, and delivery of services in line with Kellen best practices.
Develop and implement an Education & Certification training program for Kellen staff to ensure quality delivery of administrative functions handled outside of the department.
Perform other duties that align with the mission and vision of the company.
Am I qualified?
Bachelor’s degree in education, curriculum development, or other related discipline. Master’s degree preferred.
7-10 years’ experience in an education, certification, and accreditation, or related role.
Experience leading and motivating teams required.
Experience working as a consultant within a professional services organization preferred.
Familiarity with professional societies and/or associations preferred, including those in healthcare.
Must have strong project management skills, including the ability to draft and manage work plans to effectively complete deliverables on-time and within budget across multiple client relationships.
Experience using technology to design and develop online education and certification programs, including Learning Management Systems (LMS) is required.
Working knowledge of continuing education and accreditation processes and technology is required, including ensuring compliance with/tracking CME, CE, CEU and other standards-setting bodies.
Experience working with and motivating a volunteer workforce is desired.
Polished communication skills, both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution.
Ability to establish credibility and build collegial relationships with all levels of staff and volunteers.
Strong business development skills is required, including excellent ‘pitch’ and presentations skills.
Technical skills preferred in the following: educational needs assessments, item writing, test development, synchronous and asynchronous virtual education programs, instructional design, content capture, abstract programs, digital badging, program evaluation, education inventories, etc.
Supervises a team of education and certification professionals and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Travel may be necessary, up to 25% of the time and may be by travel by air, car, or rail.
