Promote and position AACE as the leader and expert in clinical endocrinology by creating a cohesive voice for the the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Board of Directors. Responsible for identifying and managing internal and external communication initiatives and supporting AACE’s global brand. Overseeing diverse projects and authoring content including executive talking points, brand value proposition, membership communication, products and services, and advocacy efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as leader, primary writer and editor for both internal and external communications.
In collaboration with ELT members, develop strategic messaging for department-related activities.
Write external communications (speeches, letters, media) for the CEO, President, and other stakeholders as requested.
Collaborate with staff, physician leaders and corporate partners to develop compelling content for the web, social media and other digital platforms
Write crisp, concise and engaging content in a variety of styles, including editorial and marketing/promotional for web, digital, and print materials
Establish and maintain website content standards and corporate style guide.
Oversee associated staff and vendor partners.
Develop community member recruitment and retention campaigns targeted at specific segments.
Position community members as thought leaders for the benefit of AACE and its members.
Drive multi-channel media opportunities highlighting member expertise and AACE resources to local, state-wide and national platforms.
Prepare briefing materials and provide support as needed when executing media requests.
Collaborate with Branding team and lead the implementation of the AACE brand story.
Ensure that the AACE brand and content guidelines are consistently used within AACE, the AACE chapters and with strategic partners.
Utilize the Association Management System (AMS) to track and assess community members’ behavioral patterns to understand community members’ needs and preferences to influence content development.
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, English, health communications, marketing or related discipline Minimum of 7 years of experience developing and executing targeted communications and campaigns
Experience working with an association and/or non-profit preferred; familiarity with healthcare and public policy channels a plus.
Must provide a portfolio of work: published articles in organizational newsletters, emails, website copy, marketing materials, etc.
Confident, productive, creative writer able who is proficient in AP style and willing and able to adopt and follow in-house style
Strategic thinker, able to problem solve and manage conflicting edits and opinions, as well as to translate complex content for multiple audiences
Exceptional communication skills to collaborate with and build consensus among diverse stakeholders at levels
Possess integrity, credibility, and commitment to the mission and vision of AACE’s mission.
Flexible and able to multitask; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, driving towards clarity and solutions.
Ability to supervise, lead and coach staff as assigned.
Vendor management experience required.
Some travel will be required.
