Director, Chemical Products

The American Chemistry Council (ACC), a trade association representing the world’s leading chemical and plastics manufacturers, currently has an opportunity for a Director in the Chemical Products and Technology division. ACC represents its members on public policy issues; coordinates the industry’s research and testing programs; and administers Responsible Care®, the industry’s environment, health, safety and security performance improvement initiative. This position is responsible for interacting with regulatory agencies, legislative bodies, scientific organizations and other trade associations. This position will support several groups within CPTD (referred to as “assigned groups” below) and will have a role in supporting CPTD-led science practice areas (e.g., ACC Center for Chemical Safety). This position will also have a role in providing and coordinating technical support between CPTD and other ACC divisions and report directly to the Senior Director, CPTD.

Required qualifications include a Ph.D. and at least three years of relevant experience or M.S. and at least six years of relevant experience; subject matter expertise in chemistry, biology, epidemiology, toxicology, or chemical risk evaluation; experience with managing/facilitating groups to identify priorities and achieve shared goals and objectives; and excellent written and oral communication skills, including writing scientific papers and managing them through the peer review and publication processes, developing and delivering presentations at scientific meetings. Additional Salary Information: ACC offers medical, dental, vision as well as 401(k) matching contribution up to 6% and a 6% contribution to the Profit Sharing Plan, both vested immediately at 100%.
