The American Board of Physician Specialties® (ABPS) is a nationally recognized multi-specialty certifying body that offers both allopathic and osteopathic physicians board certification options in a variety of specialties.
ABPS located in Tampa, Florida is seeking a Psychometric Consultant.
Specific duties will include:
Providing test development staff consultation services and guidance regarding the development and maintenance of certification examinations both written and performance-based (oral exam) to ensure compliance of test industry standards
Also providing support for currently established processes and guidelines used for exam development
Designing, conducting, and facilitating job/practice analysis studies for new and current certification programs via survey and/or focus group
Developing test specifications/outline for written and oral performance exams
Conducting statistical analyses of items and evaluating written and oral performance exams
Writing technical test reports outlining exam performance
Presenting statistical performance results of exam administrations to board and exam committee members
Making presentations regarding test development activities and standards in person and virtually
Ability to participate in in-person and virtual meetings as needed
Ability to complete tasks/projects within a specified time frame
Position Status: Part-time contractual as needed based on project load
Worksite: Mostly remote but may require some travel
Desired Skills and Experience
PhD degree preferred or Master’s Degree with sufficient relevant experience
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in assessment and test development
Must have both theoretical and applied knowledge of the psychometric principles, statistical procedures, NCCA accreditation standards, and best practices related to assessment and measurement products.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to interact effectively, efficiently, and professionally with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Previous experience working with physicians, volunteer committees, or medical organizations/Boards a plus.
Must have previous experience with certification and high-stakes examinations
