The Birmingham Association of REALTORS® (BAR) located in Birmingham, Alabama is currently recruiting for a full-time Vice President of Government Affairs. This person will report directly to the CEO and will supervise the Government Affairs Coordinator.
The Vice President ofGovernment Affairs monitors political, legislative, and regulatory issues affecting all aspects of the real estate industry in the Birmingham Area, including all 39 municipalities we serve; advises the BAR general membership and volunteer leadership concerning these matters; advocates the REALTOR® position to local government and public officials; and oversees BAR’s Alabama REALTORS® Political Action Committee (ARPAC). Three to five years of experience as a Government Affairs Director or comparable organization experience. Bachelor’s degree in political science, public administration, or a related field is preferred. The ideal candidate will have strong oral and written communication skills, be a team player, and have ability to plan and execute efficiently and effectively. Must be highly motivated with an eye for detail and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom. Etc. and have aptitude to adapt to new technology and quickly.
