The REALTORS® Land Institute (RLI), The Voice of Land, is seeking a motivated Programming and Events Manager to help plan and coordinate our annual conference and smaller meetings throughout the year, manage our webinar series and affinity program, and assist other departments as needed. RLI, a commercial affiliate of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), is a professional membership organization for REALTORS® who specialize in land real estate. This role is a new position on our team and is responsible for the overall programming and coordination of RLI’s meetings and events, including our largest annual event, the National Land Conference. Additionally, this position will work in conjunction with our Marketing and Education Managers, overseeing topics and programming for RLI communications, managing the member affinity program and webinar program, and serving as staff liaison to the Future Leaders Committee. This position reports directly to the CEO.
Key Areas of Responsibility
National Land Conference (NLC)
Serve as primary staff person for all planning, logistics, and coordination of RLI’s largest event of the year - the annual conference
Coordinate with RLI outside consultants who identify and negotiate with hotels, as well as handle logistical details of the event (food and beverage, vendors, tours. etc.)
Work with Land Conference Planning task force and other staff in planning and executing the event.
Initiate and organize contracts with speakers.
Contribute to sponsorship opportunities and outreach.
Maintain accurate records of registration, organized events, and sponsors.
Coordinate the Cowboy Auction on behalf of the Land Education Foundation - organize donated items, winning bidders, records all funds, completes paperwork.
Manage hotel pickups and staff/speaker/leadership hotel reservations with outside consultant.
Manage the Land Technology Accelerator Showcase (a special program that recognizes up and coming land technology companies that are featured at the NLC)
Other Special Events
Serve as staff lead on special events/projects as needed. Research and coordinate with any vendors that may be needed.
Coordinate with NAR staff on NAR meetings (including Legislative Meetings, Annual Conference, and Leadership Summit)
Coordinate with Marketing Manager and Editorial Panel on topics and programming for podcasts, blog posts, and magazine articles.
Manage the RLI Webinar Series. Coordinate speakers, scheduling, Zoom set-up, processing recordings, and additional logistics.
Provide marketing support by building monthly email newsletters, writing copy for social media posts, and creating basic digital graphics
Member Advantage Program (MAP)
Manage the member affinity program by working with sponsors to determine affinity offers
Work with Marketing Manager to promote MAP
Serve as staff liaison to Future Leaders Committee.
Assist Education Manager in online course hosting as needed.
Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience required.
Must have a minimum 3 years of experience with a non-profit, association, or B2B organization in event planning. Association experience preferred.
Must have experience planning and executing special events and conferences.
Must have strong problem-solving and organizational skills, attention to detail, and provide reliable follow-up.
Must have excellent customer service skills as well as written and oral communication skills.
Must be a trustworthy team player with consensus-building skills and the ability to work well with coworkers, members, leadership, and third parties.
Demonstrated project management and oversight abilities with the proven ability to simultaneously manage several complex projects required.
Strong experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PPT, etc.)
Experience using email marketing platforms (e.g. Mailchimp), social media software (e.g. Sprout Social), and graphics software (e.g. Canva, Photoshop) preferred.
Experience using Zoom and software for video editing preferred.
Ability to travel maximum 4-5 times per year for conferences and professional development.
