The American Society of Appraisers (ASA) is looking for a Credentialing Services Specialist to support our members across various time zones. This is a remote position, with opportunities to work onsite in Herndon/Reston VA area when needed.
Areas of Responsibility:
Responsible for carrying out Credentialing Services’ programs, which include tasks related to assigned disciplines as well as general department objectives.
Administer ASA’s credentialing services programs and policies according to ASA’s Constitution, Bylaws, and Administrative Rules and discipline-specific requirements as approved by ASA’s International Board of Examiners (BOE).
Review, process, track and escalate, when appropriate, all credential applications and packages submitted for review.
Review, process, track and escalate, when appropriate, all reaccreditation applications.
Coordinate efforts to encourage Candidates who are eligible to apply for the appropriate ASA credential and ensure they understand the process and requirements.
Maintain current information online and within each discipline-specific credentialing guide regarding PEECP—ASA’s equivalency program with compeer organizations.
Maintain packets and pins for designees and prepare certificates for newly designated members.
Ensure candidates/designated members are informed of the status of their credential application and package review.
Hold regular meetings with assigned discipline’s BOE Vice-Chair to ensure open communication, discuss issues or questions, report on application numbers and application flow, etc.
Monitor and update credentialing services information presented on ASA’s website and in ASA materials to ensure requirements are up-to-date and communicated properly.
Correspond with chapters/committees/BOE regarding the credentialing services processes, as needed.
Maintain current information regarding the disciplines’ requirements for USPAP continuing education.
Research, report and expedite the resolution of any problems or exceptions involving the credentialing services process to the Director of Credentialing Services.
Ensure that member information is updated correctly in the database(s).
Provide follow-up correspondence for overdue accreditation packages with reviewers.
Provide follow-up correspondence for overdue reaccreditations/ recertifications with members.
Review and approve courses, workshops, conferences, etc. for continuing education hours.
Complete appointed administrative tasks related to the Credentialing Services department, as assigned by the Director of Credentialing Services.

College degree preferred.
Two to four (2-4) years work experience preferably in an association or customer service role.
Excellent organizational and communication skills with an emphasis on customer service.
Strong advanced planning, coordination, trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to maintain a professional and harmonious relationship with ASA membership and staff in stressful or difficult situations.
Ability to work independently and maintain high productivity while remote, including providing timely responses.
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
Must possess a strong commitment to offering an outstanding member service experience.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business procedures.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals and ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Skills in Microsoft Office/Word/Excel and a working knowledge of databases is required.
