Optica is recruiting for a Senior Web Developer. The Senior Web Developer will work on a publishing system based on ColdFusion, SQL Server and NoSQL XML databases (MarkLogic). The role requires the ability to develop and maintain a large web application that is built in ColdFusion and makes extensive use of XML-based technologies for document storage, indexing and enrichment.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Co-architects enterprise solutions across the ColdFusion, SQL Server and NoSQL XML databases (MarkLogic).

2. Develop detailed design specifications including service models and message schemas

3. Provides critical direction on new development projects, with respect to data integration with XML database and SQL database systems.

4. Meets regularly with Senior Publications staff to brainstorm and analyze potential solution enhancements, leveraging advanced systems analysis and requirements processes.

5. Advanced system and application performance monitoring.

6. Develops software based integrations with multiple vendors applications and services

7. Develops workflow applications for passing content between the file system, NoSQL databases and SQL Server using features such as xquery or REST pipelines.

8. Provides guidance and code reviews to the junior developer’s and vendors through the full software life cycle.

9. Oversees security patches and upgrades for MarkLogic and ColdFusion.

Technical Requirements:

• NoSQL/XML database architecture and development • XML programming (XSLT, XPATH, XQuery)

• Advanced ColdFusion web programming

• SQL Server programming, including knowledge of execution plan analysis and index management.

• Intermediate to advanced skills in JavaScript/JQuery/CSS

• Proven skills in managing web applications with Internet Information Services (IIS)

• Experience with tools such as Lucee and CommandBox a plus.

Education and Experience:

• BA/BS in Computer Science (or related field) and/or equivalent work experience

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience

• Minimum 8 years of experience with the System Development Life Cycle

• Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in a similar Lead role

• Minimum 2 years of service oriented development experience
