The Role
RIMS is looking to add a talented Associate Editor to join a dynamic team. This individual is responsible for assisting in the editorial production, including writing, editing, proofreading, and content management, for Risk Management magazine, RMmagazine.com, the Risk Management Monitor blog, social media channels, and other related publications.

Job Responsibilities
- Research and write original risk management-focused content for digital and print publications, including Risk Management magazine, RMmagazine.com, the Risk Management Monitor blog, social media channels, and other related publications.
- Work with the editorial and creative staff to edit, proofread and correct all production copy for each issue of Risk Management to ensure that each issue is completed accurately and on deadline.
- Participate in editorial and design meetings with Publications staff to determine focus, visual presentation, and timing of publications.
- Collaborate with editorial, creative, marketing, and other staff to develop and support digital assets, including scheduling and posting website content, employing search engine optimization techniques where necessary, and creating and promoting content for social media channels.
- Review submitted content and proposals, correspond with submitters, conduct additional research, reformat submissions, and rewrite/edit material as needed.
- Cultivate contributors from a variety of sources, including subject matter experts, industry contacts, and media professionals.
- Continually expand working knowledge of risk management and its related industries.
- Attend conferences, seminars, and press events related to risk management to research and develop articles and establish relationships with key contacts.
- Assist other RIMS departments with copywriting/editing/proofreading assignments as needed.
Experience:
- Minimum of three years of experience in business journalism in a web-based capacity through websites, apps, blogs, and social media is required.
- Knowledge of risk management, insurance, or financial services.
- Experience with website content management systems and search engine optimization techniques.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, English, Communications or related field preferred.
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Adobe InDesign experience desired.
