SUMMARY

National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) is seeking a Membership and Communications Manager. This person is responsible for recruiting, engaging, and retaining all NCSS members, Associated Groups and Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society chapters.  This position supports the National Rho Kappa Advisory Council and NCSS House of Delegates. This position will report to the Deputy Executive Director.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage membership data processing and communications, serving as the primary point of contact for information requests.
• Facilitate membership recruitment and retention and develop communication audiences.
• Promote membership activities through publications, social media, and online discussion groups and affiliated organizations.
• Develop a strong knowledge of council governance structure, policies, and procedures; collaborate with the Executive Director on the annual House of Delegates meeting.
• Manage NCSS awards and recognition programs.
• Attend the NCSS Annual Conference and related events.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Non-Profit Management, or a related field. 
• 2-5 years’ experience in membership management, program administration and association/chapter relations management is a plus.
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Ability to multitask, work independently and efficiently under deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of website management/editing; knowledge of online presentation programs is desired.
• General office administration.
