Position Overview
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Accounting, your role as Staff Accountant will be responsible for general accounting functions to include preparation of journal entries, maintenance of balance sheet schedules, monthly reconciliations, and analysis of revenue and expense variances. Additionally, this role will prepare financial statements, analytical reports, and supporting documents, maintain fixed assets, record investment activity and assist with the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Accounting for Managed Organizations
- Leads the financial statement preparation by compiling and monitoring data and preparing and processing journal entries monthly.
- Reviews and analyzes financial transactions to assure compliance with policies, procedures, and Chart of Accounts.
- Ascertain that all activity has been coded and booked properly.
- Performs monthly Balance Sheet account reconciliations to determine accuracy and reasonableness.
- Records and reconciles investment activities.
- Prepares and issues financial statements.
- Assists in preparation of IRS Form 990 and other IRS and regulatory filings.
- Participates in the design and implementation of new financial processes and reports, including cross-functional team-based efforts.
- Participates in the year-end audit.
- Assists in the development and documentation of departmental policies and procedures, and proactively recommend changes to management.
- Participates in development of annual operating and capital budgets and periodic forecasts.
Accounting for STS
- Records, analyzes, and maintains fixed assets activity.
- Prepares operating, annual meeting and PAC checking account bank reconciliations.
- Records and reconciles investment activities.
- Participates in development of annual operating and capital budgets and periodic forecasts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in accounting or finance is required.
- 2+ years’ of progressively responsible accounting experience, including general accounting and financial statement preparation.
- Previous experience with Microsoft Dynamics Solomon or familiarity with fixed asset accounting software systems desired.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to travel to our yearly conference, as necessary.
