Job Description

Boutique association management company in the Chicagoland area is seeking an experienced association management sales and event management professional to lead sales and growth strategy.  Currently a part-time position with potential to full-time in 2023.

Sales activities include:

• License IAMI proprietary systems to larger association market. Systems include trade show registration, online silent auction and more.
• Sell IAMI services to new clients – event management, membership management, trade show management, golf outings, fund-raising, and professional development events.
• Upsell IAMI services to existing IAMI clients.
• Sell education and credentialing programs to existing contact base and identify new contacts.
• Identify new global markets for assessment tools.
• Grow number of global training partners.
• Sponsor solicitation

Event management activities include:

• Customer service - answering phone calls and emails in a professional manner within 24 hours
• Membership - managing membership lists and information
• Events - managing events large and small ranging in size from 20 to 2,500+ attendees and type from professional development events to trade shows
• Fund-raising - solicitation of sponsors and donors

Work location(s)

With the office located in the western suburbs of Chicago, most of the work can be done remotely.  However, two of the clients have in-person meetings where support is needed at registration and for meeting management in the Chicagoland and Minneapolis/St. Paul (Twin Cities) areas.  Applicants from the Chicagoland or Twin Cities areas are preferred.

Travel

Short travel may be required for tradeshow events in Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, and Minnesota or Chicago, – one overnight or less. 

Schedule. Set your own schedule of work hours / days and location as best meets your needs and to meet IAMI client needs. Expectation is the time in the office / onsite will be influenced by the event schedule.  It is expected that onsite work will be needed more upon starting and in the days leading up to an event. 

Skills / Experience

As a small boutique association management company managing 10+ associations, staff members must be comfortable working on many projects simultaneously and working both with other staff as well as many volunteers.  Seeking a director who can work independently, but also coordinate with others in all facets of projects.

1. Expert in all Microsoft Office products
2. Experience using zoom, gotomeeting and gotowebinar emeeting tools
3. Ability to learn quickly how to use different membership and data management systems
4. Self-directed, flexible, team player.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
6. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
7. Ability to maintain professionalism in stressful situations.
8. Strong organizational and time-management skills, able to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
9. Ability to think strategically and use independent judgment.
