Position: Senior Manager of Special Programs
Reports to: Chief Professional Education & Meetings Officer

Job Summary
This position manages the development and logistics of SGO’s special programs, including clinical research education and hands-on surgical training programs with additional involvement in other areas of association management as required. The incumbent must have strong project management and customer service skills and the position requires multitasking, creative problem solving, and strong attention to detail.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage Clinical Trialists Research Program in conjunction with Clinical Trialists Education Sub-Committee and Manager of Professional Education.
- Manage Hands-On Training Programs in conjunction with Surgical Education Sub-Committee and Manager of Professional Education.
- Manage/oversee the SGO-NCI cervical cancer initiative development and execution, in conjunction with sister-societies.
- Responsible for speaker management and event logistics for assigned programs, including the clinical research and hands-on training programs, which may include:
- Development and maintenance of the Program Shell/Schedule.
- Oversight of registration and housing, if applicable
- Management of various onsite vendors, including companies that offer support for audiovisual, production, and/or development, food & beverage, information technology, poster rentals, exhibit setup, sponsor deliverables, room sets, etc.
- Management of travel communication to presenters, staff & vendors
- Development of onsite responsibilities for staff and meeting specifications for vendors.
- Oversight of all attendee communication.
- Monitors all special program costs and assist Chief Professional Education & Meetings Officer with forecasting/budgeting.
- Travels to onsite events to execute logistics for assigned programs.
- Assists Sr. Meetings Manager with updates to webpages with event information.
- Assists with the development of marketing materials includes the creating of timelines for marketing campaigns highlighting special program event offerings.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Assists with reporting and record keeping for event logistics.
- Assists with event logistics, as needed.
- Assists with the development of onsite and virtual event materials, as needed.
- Assists with coordinating shipments and monitoring supplies, as needed.
- Assists with billing & payment tracking, as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
Nature of work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment. Requires ability to communicate verbally and in writing in an exchange of information; collect, compile, and prepare work documents; set-up and maintain work files. Occasional day and overnight travel by air and/or automobile may be required.
Working Conditions
Majority of work is performed in a general office environment. Work may be performed remotely or in the SGO Chicago office, by mutual agreement with the employees’ supervisor.
Requirements
This position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience or a Bachelor’s Degree with 3 years of experience.
Salary and Benefits
This is a full-time position (37.5 hours/week). Salary is commensurate with experience. SGO offers a comprehensive and generous benefits package including PTO, health insurance, and a 401(k)-retirement plan to its full-time employees.
