Arlington-based trade association seeks full-time Manager, Member and Industry Engagement. This position is well-suited for an individual looking to grow a career in association management with member and industry-focused opportunities in meetings, administration and communications. The trade association is a small-staffed (3-4 full-time employees), dynamic organization with member companies in the building material manufacturing industry with a strong emphasis on sustainable and energy-efficient construction.
The position offers opportunities in the following areas: membership and work group meetings planning and organization with potential opportunities to independently lead and execute on work group priorities; operations and administration support; membership communications (including electronic newsletter and website management); and industry engagement. Manager will report directly to the Senior Director, Programs and Administration, and will work independently and collaboratively on a variety of meetings, tasks and projects with the entire association team. Strong organizational skills are required in order to balance short-term tasks with longer-term projects and planning. Candidates should be detail-oriented and demonstrate initiative.
Occasional travel required (2-4 trips per year based on candidate location). Association office is located in Arlington, Virginia. Work from home option available to both remote and local candidates.
Position Details:
Membership:
- Manage the development and publication of a biweekly member e-newsletter and publish other publications focused on delivering best-in-class membership communications.
- Manage membership database and work group rosters to ensure professionalized member engagement.
- Provide support for other membership-related outreach, operational and administrative tasks.
Member Meetings:
- Manage registration and partner on planning responsibilities for two in-person membership meetings (locations vary based on year and sponsor) in order to provide members with valuable educational and networking experiences.
- Support the operations and meetings (virtual and in-person) for the association’s various work groups, which are member-focused groups charged with implementing the association’s strategic priorities.
- Opportunities available to candidates interested in leading work group activities and building project management skills.
Industry Engagement:
- Management of industry calendar and collaborate on association outreach to allied and industry organizations.
- Support the association’s educational and stakeholder outreach programs.
- Manage the association’s response to stakeholder-submitted inquiries for product and industry information. o
- Provide support for and management of the association’s website and online resources to ensure that they retain a professionalized appearance and provide accurate resources for the industry and general public.

Qualifications:
- Detail-oriented individual with strong project management skills and ability to plan, track and perform multiple tasks and meet assigned deadlines
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Willingness to demonstrate initiative and manage projects and tasks independently
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other team members and outside vendors
- Minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience (trade association experience preferred)
- Undergraduate degree
- Experience with membership database management (strongly preferred) and administering website content updates (preferred)
