Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology, is an educational nonprofit and the largest single major honor society accredited by the Association of College Honor Societies. With chapters in over 1200 universities, including 35 outside the US 50 states, Psi Chi has grown to over 800,000 members over nine decades. The organization supports psychology undergraduate students, graduate students, alumni, and faculty. Although established in 1929, Psi Chi’s first fundraising efforts of any kind began in 2014. Joining our small staff of 14 people provides a Donor Engagement Officer with the opportunity to have a large impact across the US and globally.
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of fundraising experience, demonstrated success in planning and carrying out fundraising campaigns, exceptional writing skills, and a compelling, articulate communication style. The Donor Engagement Officer is responsible for developing a robust annual fundraising campaign, promoting existing giving options, further developing Psi Chi’s capital, endowment funds, major and planned giving programs, donor relations, and corporate/foundation grant proposals. Responsibilities include both making best use of existing donor programs and developing new ideas to support fundraising short-term and long-term goals. CRFE certified preferred.
The Donor Engagement Officer assists all stakeholders with articulating the vision and mission of Psi Chi and works closely with the Director of Finance (DoF) to incorporate fundraising efforts into immediate and long term budgetary and investment strategies in order to grow benefits for members and alumni, and the Director of Communications (DoC) to publicize Psi Chi’s fundraising efforts. Excellent computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint), is required. Ability to use SharePoint and Teams is a plus.
The position will be entirely remote except for about 1-4 in-person meetings (e.g., Board meetings, psychology conventions) per year, with travel entirely at Psi Chi’s expense. The Donor Engagement Officer reports directly to the Executive Director (ED) as a member of the Operations Department.
