ASH’s Awards and Diversity Department supports and honors hematologists in all stages of their careers and guides the Society's diversity and minority recruitment initiatives. The Manager of Program Evaluation & Data Analysis will lead two primary areas of focus within the department: crafting a strategy around the effective use and transformation of data into knowledge and leading strategy and execution of program evaluation and analysis of ASH award programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Duties that occupy a major portion of time and importance in the job)
Data Analysis Strategy
Translate organizational needs into a data analysis strategy
Establish a strategy to strengthen the collection and analysis of up-to-date demographic and statistical information in support of ASH priorities including diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts
Develop a strategy for reporting on insights gathered for internal and external audiences of all levels
Incorporate best practices in data analysis and visualization into existing and future efforts.
Develop and support delivery of publication strategies for ASH award programs
Data Analysis Operations
Deploy data analytics and visualization solutions to improve organizational knowledge and processes
Develop protocols to ensure consistent, comprehensive and accurate collection, processing and analysis of data
Validate quality of data/metrics
Identify causes of data error or omission, and implement resolutions
Conduct external facing research to augment data analysis and evaluation
Develop automated processes for ingesting relevant external data into data analysis and evaluation processes (e.g. PubMed, NIH Reporter)
Create and implement automation tools to realize efficiencies in data analysis and processing as well as administrative and operational processes
Data Visualization and Communication
Support the transformation of raw data into actionable organizational insights through data interpretation and analysis integrating multiple data sources
Present findings via data visualization, reporting, and leadership presentation
Lead development of public facing reporting on meaningful information for key stakeholders inside and beyond ASH in support of ASH priorities (e.g., fundraising, program assessment, collaborations)
Build well-managed data solutions, tools, and capabilities to enable self-service frameworks for data consumers
Contribute to executive level briefings and solution demonstrations
Program Evaluation
Conceive and maintain a strategy and operational plan for evaluating the impact of award programs to inform program development and support volunteer oversight
Provide subject matter expertise on evaluation in and outside of Awards and Diversity as opportunities permit
Track and monitor program related data within organizational information technology systems
Conduct awards program evaluation, including monitoring and assessing awardee performance through interim and final progress reports
Perform final review of completed awards and processing close-out surveys
Conduct post-award reviews and analyses to identify program refinements
Develop and maintain tracking and management tools for awards program recipient (current and alumni) and institutional grants data
Collaborate to identify and prioritize types of data/knowledge to develop and capture
Ensure all awards data is maintained and updated in appropriate ASH information management systems such as Personify, Sales Force, SharePoint, and Confex
Cross-Departmental Responsibilities include:
Provide support across committees, working groups, and study sections as it relates to research, data analysis, and evaluation.
Serve as a subject matter expert for evaluation and analysis efforts outside of Awards and Diversity.
Collaborate with the Information Technology department on organizational systems and data use.
Drive an understanding and adherence to the principles of data quality management
Build tools to monitor and report on data quality, ensuring high accuracy and quality of data
Bachelor’s degree.
A minimum of five years of relevant experience
Experience in weaving diversity, equity, and inclusion principles into work product
Ability to develop comprehensive management reports and presentations
Strong detail-orientation, with excellent organizational and follow-through skills
Self-starter skilled in managing multiple requests and maintaining a high-level of responsiveness
Strong analytical skills with knowledge of and experience working with statistical and analysis packages for analyzing large datasets, data stores, and in building data models.
Knowledge of descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.
Knowledge of information design principles and data visualization methods
Knowledge of logical and physical data modeling concepts, including hands-on development of attributes, facts, dimensions, transformations, dynamic dashboards, grids, graphs, scorecards, and statistical reporting
Technical expertise in Salesforce, SQL, Python, Tableau, MicroStrategy, QlikView, Power BI, Cognos, or Business Objects and the use of relational databases
Strong customer service orientation
Experience in handling confidential information
Prior experience in a not-for-profit environment preferred
