AACC, a DC-based dynamic, international scientific/medical society of clinical laboratory professionals, physicians, and research scientists focused on clinical chemistry and related disciplines, is seeking a Manager, Divisions.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Science and Practice Programs, the Manager, Divisions is responsible for managing and overseeing the 21 AACC divisions. This includes serving as the primary point of contact and staff liaison for all division activities, primarily budget preparation, approval, and management; governance - implementing elections and documenting outcomes, annual report preparation and review, managing governance documents (e.g., process/procedure documents) - developing, planning, and implementing division programs, including business meetings, virtual programs, and events at the Annual Scientific Meeting.
Additionally, the manager will identify and implement process improvements, including updating division governance documents; standardization of division dues and budget practices; review of current division portfolio, etc. The manager will work closely with the Associate Director, Science & Practice Programs, to fully leverage the Science & Practice Core Committee and the divisions' involvement in the association. The manager also will work with members of AACC’s education staff to implement division educational programs.
Responsibilities include:
Maintains good relationships with the leadership of AACC’s 21 scientific divisions, communicating regularly and providing expert staff support for the division leaders.
Ensures division processes are implemented in a timely and effective manner; these include governance processes, budget development, annual reporting, business and scientific meetings, and educational programs.
Coordinates division activities related to the Annual Scientific Meeting, including the planning and implementation of division programs at the ASM.
With the Associate Director, Science & Practice Programs, ensures that division oversight is consistent and transparent, and maximizes integration of the divisions into AACC’s scientific activities.
Coordinates with AACC education staff for the implementation of division education programs.
Implements process improvements, such as standardization of processes across divisions and with AACC.
Travels to AACC’s Annual Scientific Meeting required; additional travel might also be required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred. Additional work experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
Three or more years’ experience working in an association environment.
Project Management experience or Education in Business/Management field preferred.
PMP Certification preferred.
Substantial experience working independently, managing programs and meeting goals and deadlines within budgetary constraints.
Experience managing volunteer member groups required.
Experience managing multiple projects/groups concurrently, and the ability to continually reprioritize work as needed.

AACC currently is working a hybrid office schedule with staff coming into the office one day a week with the ability to work remotely from home up to four days a week.
