The Association of Black Psychologists is seeking an Administrative Manager to coordinate its headquarters and staff operations, based in Ft. Washington, MD (DC Metro area). This position will manage a small staff and will be responsible for facilitating and managing key administrative and programmatic functions of the association.
The ideal candidate is a self-driven professional who can lead and manage operational functions within an association non-profit organizational structure. Outstanding communication skills, strong leadership qualities, and good administrative, financial, planning and organizational skills are a must.
The exceptional Administrative Manager should streamline our organizational operations to ensure collaboration between staff and volunteers (committees and board), with a keen focus on quality and timeliness.
Duties for the Administrative Manager will include:
Varied association management duties across the following functional areas:
Operations and office administration
Human resources
Board Administration
Bookkeeping (clerical only)
Supervise the day-to-day work of staff members.
Work with the accounting and management teams to set budgets and monitor spending
Facilitate light bookkeeping duties such as processing accounts payable, accounts receivable and preparing bank deposits
Provide administrative leadership and support to the Board of Directors
Coordinate staff hiring, training, and maintenance of human resource records
Develop and manage policies and procedures that support operational efficiency
Manage the collection and storage of cloud based documents
Oversee special projects as requested
Requirements and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications or related field
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the association management/non-profit industry
A minimum of three (3) years of staff management experience
Strong business acumen
Demonstrated ability to develop and manage policies and procedures
Fiscal management experience with budgets and reporting
Basic bookkeeping experience (recording payments and file maintenance)
Good knowledge of human resource management protocol and best practices
Excellent written (content creation and proof reading) and verbal communication skills
Strong project management experience
Exceptional interpersonal skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and related tools
Physical Requirements:
Required to stand, walk and sit; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; Clarity of vision; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms; enter text or data into a computer or other machine by means of a traditional keyboard; ability to climb flight to stairs to enter office; ability to stoop, bend, crouch and lift up to 25 pounds.
