The Payroll Specialist oversees all aspects of bi-monthly payroll and benefits for AMIA.
This is a part time, non-exempt position. AMIA is a fully remote employer.

Nature and Scope
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for all aspects of payroll processing for AMIA staff, conducting review, analysis, and entry of payroll related information – including 401k contributions and reporting - ensuring accuracy and compliance with wage and hour laws. This position ensures all necessary state and local tax jurisdictions are active and in compliance. Additionally, this position oversees all employee benefits including the annual open enrollment process.
Principle Accountabilities
The Payroll Specialist:
Is responsible for all aspects of payroll processing for AMIA staff. Conducts review, analysis and entry of payroll related information ensuring accuracy and compliance with wage and hour laws.
Ensure all necessary state and local tax jurisdictions are active and in compliance.
Administers and oversees all employee benefits including the annual open enrollment process.
Updates and maintains employee information in payroll system and complete payroll records.
Ensure all elected benefits are processed and reconcile benefit invoices for accuracy.
Responsible for balancing, processing, and maintaining 401K reporting for compliance.
Assists in preparation of payroll and benefit reporting including journal entries and expense recognition monthly.
Maintains procedures for payroll and benefit processes.
Perform other special projects and administrative duties as assigned and be available to support other department personnel as needed.

Must be able to identify and apply for necessary state and local tax accounts.
Must be able to support benefits administration and documentation, including open enrollment.
Must be able to understand 401k compliance needs.
Must be able to research and investigate information necessary for the successful performance of duties.

Qualifications
College degree preferred
Prior experience with multi-state payroll and benefits required
Highly motivated and organized with a strong work ethic
Exceptional MS office skills including Outlook, Excel, and the use of other technologies including time keeping and payroll processing tools.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Possible to travel to annual meeting in November; possible occasional extended hours as required.
