ASHA is seeking an experienced professional to join its Association Governance Operations Team in carrying out major changes to the organization’s volunteer cultivation, orientation, training, and recognition programs, to include the launch of an new product to promote microvolunteer and committee, board, or council service opportunities. In addition to volunteer programs, the individual in this role will manage multiple leadership development programs for the Association, while also supporting the recognition of the communication sciences and disorders professions’ leaders through ASHA’s awards programs to include the highest designations awarded by the organization such as ASHA Honors and ASHA Fellowship. This position requires a problem-solver who has experience optimizing the member experience while simultaneously streamlining processes and using technological tools to great effect.
Every day you will:
Facilitate the learning of speech-language pathologists and audiologists developing their leadership skills through various programs including the comprehensive Leadership Development Program, the Leadership Mentoring Program, and the Distinguished Early Career Professional Certificate Program.
Run a centralized system that connects ASHA members with volunteer opportunities and tracks ASHA volunteer interest as well as a member’s history of service with ASHA microvolunteer opportunities or Committees, Boards, and Councils.
Work independently and collaboratively with staff colleagues, volunteers, leadership development facilitators and more to implement program activities.

Description
The purpose of this position is to implement and manage a comprehensive leadership development and volunteer management program to include the management of the detailed and deadline-oriented processes to cultivate, orient, train, retain, and recognize ASHA’s volunteers, as well as various programs including the Leadership Development Program, Leadership Mentoring Program, and Distinguished Early Career Professional Certificate. The Program Manager also coordinates aspects of ASHA’s awards program, while and assisting with other the Association Governance Operations Team (AGOT) functions as assigned.
Responsibilities
Manage the processes of all governance-related leadership development activities and initiatives.
Manage the process of volunteer cultivation, orientation, training, recognition and retention programming.
Manage ASHA’s micro volunteering program to facilitate the promotion of new volunteer opportunities for ASHA’s members.
Manage activities associated with ASHA’s awards program to include the coordination of the awards ceremony assets including the booklet and awards videos for the ceremony, and other related duties.
Assist with supporting and training ASHA Ex Officios and other ASHA volunteer managers.
Qualifications
Knowledge Typically Acquired Through
At least 5 years of experience successfully managing leadership development programs for a membership or trade association.
At least 5 years of experience successfully handling volunteer cultivation, orientation, training, recognition and retention programming duties for a membership or trade association.
At least 5 years of experience effectively leveraging various types of technological platforms to administer association programs and facilitate workflows.
At least 3 years of experience effectively administering or supporting awards programs.
Experience with managing committees, boards, councils or other association governance entities.
